Our custom shipping container workshops are perfect for contractors needing a mobile office or individuals looking for extra space. Built with a strong steel composition, our containers last longer than other structures. We offer sizes like 20′ and 40′, and can connect multiple containers together for larger workspaces. Choose features such as insulation, heating/cooling, electrical outlets, and windows.
At Custom Cubes, we’re excited to offer our custom shipping container workshops to the Western USA & Canada.
Shipping containers can be customized to include everything you’d expect in a typical workshop:
Shipping containers can be modified to fit everything you would find in a regular workshop:
- Tailored Windows and Doors to meet your requirements;
- Electrical wiring with lighting and multiple outlets for your power tools;
- Plumbing;
- Ventilation and heating systems to keep you working around the clock, no matter the weather;
- Sturdy workbenches;
- Storage options like cabinets and shelves for your tools and projects;
- Secure lockups to give you peace of mind at the end of the day.
These structures are built to endure harsh climates while being transported on ships up to eight boxes high. They’re reliable and long-lasting.
Advantages
In general, a few upsides to shipping containers for a workshop are:
- Mobility: Take your tools and workspace with you without packing heavy equipment for each job.
- Space-efficient: Get a workshop at home without sacrificing space. Just place it in your backyard.
- Personalized: Choose from pre-made options or add extra hardware, such as cabinets, doors, workbenches, and shelves, to meet your needs.
Moreover, if you’re a small business owner looking to elevate your company’s success, having a custom shipping container workshop can set you apart from the competition. Instead of wasting time unpacking, you can get straight to work.
For those who work from home, having a shipping container workshop can resolve family squabbles about tools cluttering up the garage, giving you a quiet space to focus on your work.

Prepare for a Shipping Container Delivery
- Ensure you have enough space:
- 12ft Width clearance
- 16ft Height clearance- no wires or trees above
- Straight line space needed:
• 75ft – for 1 x 20ft container
• 120ft – for 1 x 40ft container or 2 x 20ft (moved together)
- Check the weather conditions
Weather conditions such as rain or snow can impact delivery. Ensure that the path and container location are dry and firm. - Solid, level ground
Containers need to be delivered on solid, level ground to ensure the doors will open and close properly. - Flat delivery site
It is important that the path leading to the delivery site is a level, flat surface as hills and slopes may cause the tilt body truck to get stuck.

What is the delivery process?
After we receive payment for your container and confirm a delivery date, the truck driver will contact the person listed on your order once the container has been loaded. This call will serve as a notice that the driver is on the way to your location.
Delivery costs vary based on the distance between your location and our storage yard. For an exact quote, please contact our office and we’ll be happy to provide pricing.
How much space is required for delivery?
Delivering a container requires enough space for the tilt-bed roll-off truck to safely position and unload it. The driver tilts the truck bed, allowing the container to slide slowly onto the ground before the truck pulls away.
-
20ft container: Approximately 75ft of straight-line clearance is recommended to accommodate the truck and unloading process.
-
40ft container: Plan for about 110ft of straight-line clearance to ensure the truck and trailer have enough room.
To ensure a smooth delivery, the area should be level, free of obstacles, and easily accessible for the truck to maneuver. Proper planning helps prevent delays and ensures the container can be placed exactly where you need it.
What kind of site preparation is needed?
Can the storage container be placed on railroad ties/landscape timbers?
Yes, railroad ties/landscape timber can be placed under the container to lift it up. The truck driver can help you at time of delivery. Please note, we do not provide the railroad ties/landscape timbers.
Do I need a permit to place a container on my property?
How long does delivery take after ordering a container?
Container deliveries are typically Monday thru Friday. But we do work with some trucking companies who will deliver on the weekend for an extra fee. An authorized representative must be there for delivery.
