40ft High Cube Containers – Extra Height, Extra Capacity

When storage demands go beyond standard dimensions, 40ft High Cube shipping containers offer the ideal solution. Designed for tall or bulky cargo, these containers deliver maximum versatility for logistics, construction, and warehousing while maintaining global shipping standards.

What is a 40ft High Cube Shipping Container?

A 40-foot High Cube (HC) container is built with the same heavy-duty corten steel as a standard 40ft unit but adds one extra foot of vertical space. This design makes it particularly valuable for storing tall equipment, palletized goods, or oversized products that don’t fit in regular-height containers.

Why Choose a 40ft High Cube Container?

  • Extra cubic space without increasing footprint
Global Shipping Standard

Prepare for a Shipping Container Delivery

To prepare for a hassle-free delivery, consider these following points:

  • Ensure you have enough space:
  1. 12ft Width clearance
  2. 16ft Height clearance- no wires or trees above
  3. Straight line space needed:
    • 75ft – for 1 x 20ft container
    • 120ft – for 1 x 40ft container or 2 x 20ft (moved together)
  • Check the weather conditions
Weather conditions such as rain or snow can impact delivery. Ensure that the path and container location are dry and firm.
  • Solid, level ground
Containers need to be delivered on solid, level ground to ensure the doors will open and close properly.
  • Flat delivery site
It is important that the path leading to the delivery site is a level, flat surface as hills and slopes may cause the tilt body truck to get stuck.

How do I order a container?
Once you’ve selected the container size and confirmed whether delivery is required, we will issue an invoice via email. To prepare this, please provide the following information: Name or Company Name, Billing and Delivery Address, Email Address, and delivery instructions (indicating whether the container doors should slide off the back of the truck first or last). After payment has been received, we will either arrange delivery or supply you with pick-up/release details, including the depot address and your pick-up number.
How do I make payment?
We accept payments via ACH, wire transfer, mailed check, overnight payment, or any major credit or debit card.
Do you offer financing?
We do not currently provide in-house financing options. All containers must be purchased outright using one of our accepted payment methods. However, you are welcome to arrange financing through your own bank or third-party provider if needed.
Do you rent containers?
We do not offer container rentals or rent-to-own options — all units are sold outright.
Is there sales tax on the purchase of a shipping container?
Sales tax is only applied to purchases within the state of Illinois. Because our invoicing originates from Illinois, customers with an Illinois billing or delivery address are required to pay the applicable state sales tax. For buyers located outside of Illinois, no sales tax will be charged on the container purchase.
What if the container isn’t what I expected?
Used containers may show some minor exterior wear, such as rust, dings, dents, or patches, but nothing that compromises the structural integrity. At Container Sales Group, every container comes with a water- and wind-tight guarantee at the time of delivery or pick-up.

We ask customers to carefully inspect their container upon delivery or collection to ensure it meets this standard. If any issues are found, we will work with you to replace the container, issue a refund, or assist in making necessary repairs, ensuring your satisfaction.

Delivery Questions

What is the delivery process?

After we receive payment for your container and confirm a delivery date, the truck driver will contact the person listed on your order once the container has been loaded. This call will serve as a notice that the driver is on the way to your location.

Delivery costs vary based on the distance between your location and our storage yard. For an exact quote, please contact our office and we’ll be happy to provide pricing.

How much space is required for delivery?

Delivering a container requires enough space for the tilt-bed roll-off truck to safely position and unload it. The driver tilts the truck bed, allowing the container to slide slowly onto the ground before the truck pulls away.

  • 20ft container: Approximately 75ft of straight-line clearance is recommended to accommodate the truck and unloading process.

  • 40ft container: Plan for about 110ft of straight-line clearance to ensure the truck and trailer have enough room.

To ensure a smooth delivery, the area should be level, free of obstacles, and easily accessible for the truck to maneuver. Proper planning helps prevent delays and ensures the container can be placed exactly where you need it.

What kind of site preparation is needed?
We can deliver containers on surfaces such as cement, pavement, asphalt, gravel, grass, or compacted dirt, as long as the ground is firm and stable. For best results, choose a location that is as level as possible, since an uneven surface can make the container doors difficult to open and close. Additionally, ensure the placement area has proper drainage to prevent the container from sinking or shifting over time.

Can the storage container be placed on railroad ties/landscape timbers?

Yes, railroad ties/landscape timber can be placed under the container to lift it up. The truck driver can help you at time of delivery. Please note, we do not provide the railroad ties/landscape timbers.

Do I need a permit to place a container on my property?
In most cases, a permit is not required. Containers are generally classified as temporary structures, so local zoning regulations typically do not mandate one. However, requirements can vary by location, so we recommend checking with your local municipality to confirm the rules for your area.
How long does delivery take after ordering a container?
We aim to deliver your storage container as quickly and efficiently as possible. Typically, deliveries are completed within 3 to 5 business days from the date your order is confirmed.

Container deliveries are typically Monday thru Friday. But we do work with some trucking companies who will deliver on the weekend for an extra fee. An authorized representative must be there for delivery.

Can you move or relocate my container?
Yes, in certain areas, we are able to relocate or move your container. Please contact our office to discuss your location and options, and we’ll guide you through the process.
